You Are 60% Capitalist, 40% Socialist |
While you are definitely sympathetic to a free economy, you also worry about the less fortunate. Wealth and business is fine, as long as those who are in need get helped out too. You tend to see both the government and corporations as potentially corrupt. |
And that's the reason why I hate them. I am an economic liberal and capitalist through and through, but I do believe there is such a thing as society and people do have responsibilities outside of their own zone. Didn't somebody once tell us that we're all in this together??? Oh dear, because I rate the environment and education I seem to have been mistaken for some kind of weirdo trot. I could handle those surveys that tell me that I am Toby Ziegler or Gonzo from the muppets ... but 40% socialist? One Nation Toryism should never be mistalen for socialism!

Well Antony, I scored 60% Soc. 40% Cap. But it depend how I've got out of bed. Running a car boot sale I turn into a 100% rabib Forengi (Star Trek), Running for Charity or Church Communion 100% Socialist. "Ism"s are artifical labelling in a complex world of belief(delusion), identity and personal direction.
I don't give myself a hard time on a sunday morning failing to believe and follow an "ism". Sipping my coffee and reading my paper I am a "Taoist" for the moment. Both my coffee and paper happen and exist in the moment!
Environmentalism has been hijacked by the left... This survey has mistaken the hijacking for legitimate possession.
Environmentalism is neither a left or right issue, its a different dimension. Everyone is hijacking it curently. Business, Trade Unions, Conservatives, Liberals, Greens and Labour. This is good news for the environment as long as sentiment results in sustainable real action.
Well, Tone, 16% Capitalist, 84% Socialist. Even I was surprised!
I think it was incorrectly weighted, though. I wasn't given my chance to express my general faith in Capitalism, only a dislike of well evil Capitalism.
Anyway, ta ta.
I've always beleived of responsibility out of ones sphere. It's been called the neighbour that doesn't cross the road, the good smaritan who steps up to the plate instead of fading away. I do have to emphasise that things really stated to change in Britain in 1979-81 to today where selfishness "I'm all right Jack" did penetrate the British modus operandi. Society was mauled alive and lost a lot of soul and spirit. Individualism ruled under Margaret. The balance was too much. This is a position we need to learn from and instill more collective care and responsibility.
