A friend draws my attention to serial election-denier Steve Morphew.
Last year he said that Bowthorpe was robbed of a Labour Councillor (it elected a hard working Conservative instead) because of some obscure unitary leaflet.
Now apparently he writes in the Evening News that the people of Bowthorpe and Catton Grove must have woken up to wonder what they did by dumping failed Labour (and electing hard working Conservatives instead).
Elections are tough stuff; why can't we just accept the verdict of the electorate without claiming they had got it wrong or didn't know what they were doing?

if you had bothered fighting the local election on local issues rather than national ones you might have found a different result. Dont get too complacent

Actually anon, we fought totally on local issues; we didn't mention the government, cameron or national politics at all, we let the media do that for us. We have a good story to sell locally and that is what we did.
No complacency here!
Actually Anthony you did fight of national issues in Norwich North, the Tories put a leaflet out about the 10p tax which is not a local government issue.
So as I said dont get too complacent
Anon; 2 points;
antony is Norwich South (yes???), Norwich North run their own campaign. Please raise that point with them.
As opposed, I'm sure you mean, to other parties who mentioned Iraq etc etc
Egi
Other parties? Iraq was ever mentioned onthe doorstep by residents. The point I was making is that the Conservative Party sought to feed off the media frenzy regarding the 10p and did not fight local election on the record of the administration at city hall.
Perhaps that is because their record on the city council appears to be trying to put down the city council, fight against unitary and make the ludicrous suggestion that the council tax increase should be set at 0% which would have meant a 1 million pound deficit. Whilst I can appreciate that a suggestion such as that makes good politics it is hardly a practical suggestion and easy to make when you are not in administration and therefore do not have to put it into practice.
Whilst Anthony is clearly a diferent breed to the Tories in NOrwich north he is nonetheless a tory. shame really Anthony you are a bright bloke.
The Norwich North vs Norwich South argument doesn't really stand up.. that is unless Anthony is only the leader of himself Niki and John (Eve and Mr Fisher have their own leader perhaps).
In all local polls the national picture is the elephant in the room. Much as we deny to ourselves that we are exploiting it... not to do so would be rather foolish
I think the elephant in the room is the overuse of the vile cliche 'the elephant in the room'.
